Kids’ Judo Classes
At Champions Sport Complex, we have judo classes for kids ages 5 and up. We teach everything from basic footwork to falling safely to winning a match with a perfect throw. Some benefits of judo for kids are that it’s perfect as an exercise, a recreational sport, or a competitive sport. The purpose of judo isn’t fighting; it’s to learn how to defend yourself and gently take down an opponent with as little effort as possible.
Children’s Judo Competitions
There’s a place for every child in our kids’ judo classes, including those who wish to compete. Our coaches have years of experience helping young competitors become champions at judo competitions in and around Los Angeles. Many of our coaches even compete themselves and have been for most of their lives.
If your child is serious about perfecting their throws, holds, chokes, and armlocks to win judo competitions, you’ve come to the right place.
Any judo school can teach your child the moves and techniques to perform, but not every coach will pass on their love of the art and history that is judo. Our coaches have spent the majority of their lives pursuing their passion for judo, and they are eager to positively impact the lives of the next generation through this sport.
The benefits of judo for kids have a lot to do with how comprehensive the sport is. It uses and exercises every part of the body, making it a perfect option for children who need to be more active. By attending just three kids’ judo classes every week, your child will reach the recommended amount of active time, and they increase their stamina and strength in their arms, legs, and core. But judo is more than just exercise…
The judo techniques for kids that we teach are versatile, helping children learn to defend and attack from the ground and standing positions. Though judo is one of the most gentle martial arts, it is an invaluable resource for teaching children to defend themself against bullies or in dangerous situations they may encounter later in life.
While team sports are important for the social development of children, it’s also good for your child to win or lose based on their own merits. Children’s judo competitions give your child a chance to compete one-on-one with their opponent, making their satisfaction at winning that much stronger.
As your child listens to their sensei, follows precise instructions, and practices judo techniques for kids to perfection, they will gain the ability to better control their body and mind. They will learn patience and perseverance, coordination and precision, and that’s just the beginning.
Classes and Opportunities
You can sign your child up for kids’ judo classes if they are 5 years or older. We hold judo classes two or three times a week:
The standard judo uniform is similar to the well-known karate uniform. Your child doesn’t need to have a uniform when they sign up for classes. We can help get them fitted and provide an outfit if needed. If your child wishes to compete in children’s judo competitions, they will need a regulation uniform.
